Commercial snack bars can be loaded with undesired ingredients, from artificial sweeteners, to whey protein (which many people are sensitive to), preservatives, and more. I love the simplicity of using real food, and mashing it together to make these delicious bars. There is such a wide variety of variations on this recipe, so it’s great for those with food allergies and sensitivities. Especially for those doing an elimination diet, this snack will provide energy, and will also satisfy your sweet tooth with 5 simple ingredients. Cherries and almonds are one of my favorite flavor combinations, so I hope you enjoy these as much as I do!
The sweetener I used in this recipe was Aunt Patty’s Brown Rice Syrup, my favorite substitute for corn syrup, although any liquid sweetener would do. The rolled oats can be substituted with Erewhon’s Crispy Brown Rice Cereal, Arrowhead Mills Puffed Kamut, Arrowhead Mills Puffed Millet, or Erewhon Organic Corn Flakes.
